Twenty Nine

Yesterday was my birthday. I turned 29 years old. Let me say, that feels extremely OLD! I spent the entire weekend celebrating and I know itll be hard to top it for my 30th birthday next year.

Friday, I went to a painting party with 2 friends. You got to pick a wooden pallet, a phrase and paint away. It was so much fun and Im totally in love with my art!! I have wanted this saying in my home forever and its so special that my non-artistic butt made it!

Saturday, Tom and I got to sneak out on a date. I gave him "12 dates of Christmas" this year. Our first date was out for Mexican food. We went to Lalos and it was delicious!

Sunday, I went to my nails done and to see the movie Sisters with 3 girlfriends. The movie was pretty good, the company was better. Some downtime for 4 Moms was overdue and the sangria buckets were being shared.

Monday, my actual birthday, was MLK day. The kids were off school and we had most of the day to enjoy together. I woke up and there were flowers in a vase. Tom had to have his second back injection at 8:30 am, so we bundled up on the coldest day this season and had to pick him up afterward. We went to the mall for a bit and had lunch at Red Robin. The boys were complimented on being well behaved. We came home and enjoyed ice cream cake before I had to go to work that night. Tom had the boys make cards and got me wine and booked a massage. He went above and beyond. I always expect nothing and am fine with that, so to get totally spoiled was very appreciated.

I have HUGE plans lined up for my 30th birthday. I want to run the Disney Princess half marathon February 2017. The sign up is this July and I am pumped!

Although, the next year can go nice and slow. We have a lot to look forward to and enjoy. Soon enough, Tom will turn 30. Ive always been grateful he is 11 months older than me.

Next up-details about my work life and potty training twins. Any other requests?

Daddys Home!

I appreciate the warm welcome back. :)

So, one major thing that has been going on around here is that Tom has been home. For 5ish months. He had his furlough in August and we had an amazing trip down to Florida. He went back to work for a few days and got hurt Labor Day weekend. His squad was t-boned by a drunk driver. You'd be surprised how often it happens! And yes, he got the guy.

He hurt his back when they were hit and has been recovering ever since. He has done physical therapy and seen a few different doctors. He got an MRI and has a bulging disc in his back. He has been in constant pain for months and it hasn't been fun. He finally got a steroid shot 2 weeks ago and got some relief. He goes back to the doctor this week and may get cleared to go back to work.

Of course, its awful he has been hurting for so long, but it has been amazing having him around. He is a hands on Dad and can do everything I can do. We haven't had to worry about being quiet while he sleeps all day, he hasn't had to miss any big events or birthdays, it has been heavenly. Additionally, he has been away from the danger of the job. The police in the media lately..particularly in Chicago..yeah. Im glad hes been home and avoided that mess.

Our world will be completely rocked when he goes back. We have gotten completely used to having our family together. The kids go nuts if he leaves to go to the store for 30 minutes. They are going to be devastated when he isn't around all the time. Ill be tough on me too, but I am so thankful for the time we've had together. He got furlough in May and September this year, so we can look forward to that.
