Natural Inducers?

I had my doctor appointment last night and all is well with baby boy! I did my weight, urine, bp, heartbeat check, measurement, group B test and cervix check. Im still at 1, but softening more. I was very surprised considering all I have done in the past few weeks! Before he left, I did ask about if theyll make me go to my due date based on how big Trevor was. He said as long as theres something going on with my cervix, they would offer me an induction date once I hit 39 weeks. If you remember, 39 weeks exactly is on Friday, the 24th. Its the date I have had in my mind and in my heart this entire pregnancy. It would be so perfect to go in that day, Toms birthday, have Trevor taken care of, have the whole weekend for visitors, etc. Of course, Id love for him to come on his own before then!! Plus, that date may not be an option with the docs. Regardless, I left the doctors office so happy! I will for sure have a February baby! And he will be in my arms in 20 days or less!

Now, my goal is to get this cervix to cooperate. Anyone had good success with natural inducers? I plan to do the harmless ones..sex at least every other day, pineapple, raspberry leaf tea, evening primrose oil, etc. I will walk as much as possible and try to move him down. Please share if you have had an experience, good or bad, with any of these! Or, if you have any other suggestions! Thanks in advance.

I go back to the doctor next Wednesday morning. Heres to hoping I can make a difference in the next 5 days!

Why don't you ask to be induced on February 29th! That would be a cool birthday! Just kidding, hehe!

Hoping you make some progress and YAY that you will get your Feb baby! :)

I've heard castor oil, but from what I've read, that may work because it makes you poop like crazy!! Ina May, the natural child birth expert, talks about using it in her book, and she's very natural/ crunchy. It works a lot of the time, but definitely read up on it first!

I think sex is supposed to be pretty effective, too, so hopefully that will work! I wish that was an option for me, but because I'm so dilated, sex could actually break my bag of water, and that, my friend, would scar my husband for life!!

We did evening primrose oil (inserted at night, followed by sex a time or two) and 5 days later my water broke!

I had my membranes stripped and was in labor within 36 hours. I was 38 weeks. My doctor said that if my body wasn't ready, it wouldn't work. But if it was, this would put it over the edge into labor within 48 hours. Good luck!!

At the end of my first pregnancy I tried a few things and NOTHING worked! He came 10 days after my due date and in Germany they do not induce you unless there is a medical reason or you are at least 14 days over-due.
At the end of my second pregnancy I didn't care at all since nothing worked in the first pregnancy. I got accupuncture to speed up the birth process and that actually helped! But anyway, my second son came 6 days late.
I would like one more child and I will leave the birthday up to my child - like I did with my last one.
At the end, they will all come out ;-)

I did evening primrose oil (inserted) for about 2 weeks prior to my due date. It did not make me go into labor- but I think it made labor easier because my cervix was softer. Very quick and easy labor. I drank raspberry leave tea with two of my three and the two I drank it with were not over due and labor and recovery were much easier. Not sure if it was the tea or not.. but it couldn't hurt and I think it taste good! I drank it post-partum as well to help get my uterus back in shape. I had my membranse stripped with 2 of the three- worked with one- didn't work at all with the other! I think it is hit or miss and it is uncomfortable! Honestly- I don't think anything actually brings on labor but the baby- but I think there are things you can do to make sure your body is ready for labor.

Have the Dr. strip your membranes, my water broke 24 hours later.

Pump

Go to the chiropractor for acupressure.

Okay I know this sounds nasty- but I swear this just worked for my sister. Nipple stimulation...haha! It gave her contractions a HUGE push for sure- it might be worth a try- best of luck! Let us know what works because I will be there in a few short months!

I"d tried just about everything with #1 and #3 and nothing worked. with #2, sex worked but my husband had been deployed for 5 months so take that for what it's worth. my personal opinion, none of those things help if the baby isn't ready. if he's ready, those things will move you right along.

Delurking. As a medical professional, I DO NOT suggest castor oil. It completely cleans out your colon, and gives you terrible cramps. In addition, all of this makes you dehydrated. Not good for you or baby! My first daughter was induced at 42 weeks. Second come on her own at 41 weeks. By the third, I was DONE! I used the breast pump for about 10 minutes with my third, and my water broke a day later at 40 weeks and one day! Good luck!

I have tried everything for the last 2-3 weeks! I've had fresh pineapple, i've inserted Evning primrose tablets, walked walked walked and had sex and I have been dialted a 4 and 75% effaced this whole time and looks like I"m still going to have to be induced! I think it all only works if your body and baby is ready!!

Good luck girl!!

I absolutely did not want to be induced, but because it would soon become medically necessary I tried everything I could think of to make my DD come on her own...My Midwife recommended an acupuncturist who had special pre-natal training. I don't know what it did exactly but it made her move around like crazy! I will never know what exactly caused me to go into labor, because I also did the primrose oil, Raspberry tea and walking like crazy, but I do know that 2 hours after my acupuncture appointment I went into labor and delivered her 10 hours later so I would definitely give it a try!

Sex, Salsa and Stairs:)

That's what I always heard!

Can't wait to "meet" your new baby boy!

Not sure this is actually what did it, but I was hoping for a VBAC with #2 and, the only way the doctor would let me try is if I went into labor on my own.

I read somewhere that there is a spot on your ankles that brings on contractions, so I applied pressure to that spot throughout the day. I started having contractions that night and went into labor, having a successful VBAC.

Prenatal Massage and have them rub the pressure point on your ankles, I also took evening primrose oil from 37 weeks on. I orally took 2 pills 3x a day. My water broke four days before my due date. Labor and delivery was only 7 hours long and it was my first baby!

trampoline! Or birthing/yoga ball. Gravity can really help bring baby down more and get things going. Sex works too, but only if you're body is already ready and preparing. Definitely try a breast pump or nipple stimulation - I've heard that to really work. Gets the hormones going to bring on dilation and contractions.

I didn't start trying natural induction methods until I hit 40 weeks. At 41 weeks I had my membranes stripped and a 42 weeks, 1 day, I finally took castor oil.(I had an induction scheduled for the next day) He was born 4 hours later! Everyone told me that 2nd babies come faster - and they weren't kidding! I also tried sex, EPO, RRLT, nothing worked but the CO. Waiting for babies can be frustrating, but it's almost always safer for babies to pick their own birthdays! Sending labor vibes your way!
